16 Crocodile Coloring Pages

Crocodiles have been around for more than 200 million years, and their basic body plan has changed very little since the age of dinosaurs. They live in tropical rivers, lakes and coasts in Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas. Saltwater crocodiles are the largest living reptiles, growing over 20 feet long. Crocodile mothers carry their hatchlings gently in their mouths to the water. This collection shows crocodiles in friendly scenes. A crocodile climbs a riverbank, peeks out of a hollow log and a birdhouse, sits on a mushroom and holds a party balloon. Others balance on stacks of balls, gifts and pumpkins. A baby crocodile is great for little kids. Real crocodiles are olive green, gray or tan, often with darker bands, and their snouts are longer and more V-shaped than an alligator's. Bumpy scales along the back are fun to color one by one. Blue water and green riverbanks make a natural setting. These pages fit reptile units and jungle themes.
Four easy reptiles
All four pages are easy. Cute Crocodile Character is the simplest, with thick outlines and big shapes for ages 3 to 5. Baby Crocodile and Crocodile Smiling add spots, ridges and belly scales for ages 4 to 7. Cute Crocodile is a small figure with lots of open space, so kids can draw a river, reeds or lily pads around it.
River habitat scene
Crocodiles spend much of their time in rivers, lakes and swamps, resting with only their eyes and nostrils above the water. After coloring Cute Crocodile, have kids draw blue water up to its eyes, then add reeds, a mud bank and a bird on its back. Compare the open jaws on Baby Crocodile with the closed smile to talk about how crocs cool off with their mouths open.
