16 Gingerbread House Coloring Pages

Gingerbread houses became popular in Germany in the early 1800s, partly thanks to the story of Hansel and Gretel and its house made of sweets. Today they are a holiday craft in kitchens around the world. These pages show houses dripping with icing, topped with candy roofs and surrounded by peppermint paths and candy cane fences. One is a chalet with two windows, one is a cottage with smoke curling from the chimney, and another has a tall tower. Some houses are stacked with gumdrops, wrapped in garland or fronted by a little mailbox. There is also a decorated house, a house covered in candy, and two cheerful cartoon versions. Coloring them is a bit like decorating a real one, only without the sticky fingers. Use a warm golden brown for the walls, then go wild with candy colors on the trim. White crayon pressed hard on the icing before a watercolor wash makes it stand out. The cartoon houses are great for little kids, and the tower and chalet suit older ones.
