20 Christmas Stocking Templates and Templates

Hanging stockings by the fireplace is a tradition often linked to a legend about Saint Nicholas dropping gold coins down a chimney, where they landed in stockings left to dry. These stocking templates are designed for crafts as much as coloring. One has a blank cuff where kids can write their own name, which makes it perfect for labeling a classroom display or a door decoration. Others are decorated with bells and a pom pom, bows and a toy car, chubby hearts, a big snowflake, a zigzag front, plaid, stripes with snow, and a teddy bear peeking over the top. A pair of overlapping stockings and a staggered pair make nice designs for siblings. The outline and simple versions can be traced onto felt or fabric scraps for a sewing or gluing project. If you print on cardstock, cut out the stocking, punch two holes along the edge and lace yarn through to practice threading. The name cuff template works for ages 4 and up, and the plaid page is a fun challenge for older kids.
Plain outline to full scene
Simple Christmas Stocking is the easiest, only three sections for ages 3 to 5. Christmas Stocking Outline adds a hanging loop and toe patch for ages 4 to 7. Fun Christmas Stocking and Cute Christmas Stocking are medium pages for kids around 5 to 8, with holly points, cuff dots, a star tag, ribbons and wrapped boxes to fill with color.
Make a family stocking wall
Give every family member or classmate a copy of Christmas Stocking Outline or Simple Christmas Stocking. Each person decorates their own with stripes, snowflakes or a favorite color and writes their name on the cuff. Cut them out and hang them in a row along a wall or mantel with tape. Kids can draw small gifts or treats peeking out the top of each one.
